Water falls on us from the sky – if we are fortunate. It flows all around us and even moves through us. It has no colour, yet it leaves footprints of living greenery. It refle(k)ts what is shone unto it. It returns to where it came from – a beautiful and intriguing cycle.
When we interact with this ancient cycle, it needs to be done with care. REFLEKT WATER was founded by Marco Kritzinger in 2020. A personal journey of adopting a slower pace, refle(k)ting and finding a more sustainable life rhythm also spilled over to the REFLEKT ethos.
We hope to co-create, uncover and increasingly become refle(k)tions of God’s image.

Impact
The water cycle is circular by nature. We have tried to force it to conform to the principles or our linear consumption-based economy. It will not. We cannot continue to disown our impact (our fingerprints) on the cycle as we do when we flush a toilet with no idea of where the water goes from there. The environment keeps the score like tree rings recording every season.
Water is a preciously finite resource and should be allowed to flow in circles. On an urban scale these circles become intangible, out of sight and out of mind. Our impact is ‘outsourced’. Education and good governance is important for urban communities to take ownership of its full impact on the cycle.
Decentralised water reuse systems, whether it be residential, industrial or agricultural, give us the opportunity to design smaller water cycles than can be seen, felt and appreciated. We get to own the ripple effect of our impact, hopefully for good.
